After some ten years of passionate designwork I have decided to change my course... And so Something ELS has turned into Something NEW.
After becoming specialized in the visual identity of companies I have now turned over to a kind of related niche, the identity of individual people. As from 2018, I offer my services under the new brand name Being Unique.
As a tribute to SomethingELS and to everyone whom I had the honour to work with, this page offers a selection of projects established over the years. There were far more projects, in the Netherlands as well as abroad. Not always did we have the chance to take good pictures and some assignments are just too private to showcase.
I was fortunate to work with many amazing clients, colleagues and suppliers, who had the courage to trust my concepts and direction.

My name is Els Willemse. Having studied both Law and Dutch Language & Literature at VU University in Amsterdam, I worked in various administrative and management positions at several commercial and public organizations. After some years my predilection for art and all things beautiful prompted me to retrain in an artistic direction. While studying contemporary art and conceptual & interior styling at Akademie Vogue in Amsterdam, a natural talent blossomed that proved to be the perfect complement to my existing qualities.
My interests, knowledge and experience blended to make me a generalist. Over the years I have completed an impressive number of design projects. Various villa's, hotels, restaurants, bars, offices and leisure projects bear my eclectic stamp. Unusual, refreshing colour combinations that create a pleasant and warm ambience characterize my work. I often made use of eye-catching elements in the form of uniquely designed carpets, works of art or exclusive lighting.
My services included concept development, styling & design, implementation, and monitoring in the form of consultancy or interim project management.
